ŠKODA has announced specification and pricing details for the new Superb facelifted model which is now available for order at Burns Car Sales.
Unveiled internationally at the Shanghai Motorshow in April, the newly revamped Superb will arrive in Ireland just in time for the new 132 registration plate in July with increased specifications on all model versions and a competitive new entry price from €24,995 for the 1.4 TSI Active model.
The new Superb is available in a variety of turbo charged TSI petrol and TDI diesel engines with reduced fuel consumption across all models. The entry and most popular 1.6 TDI diesel engine produces 105bhp and now achieves 4.2 l/100km (67mpg). The range topping 2.0 TDI, 170 bhp now produces 20 g/km less than the outgoing model which results in annual savings of €120 in road tax. In some cases CO2 emissions have been reduced by 19% resulting in reduced vehicle registration taxes (VRT) and savings of up to €3,400 when compared to the outgoing model.
Commenting, Raymond Leddy, Head of Product & Marketing, ŠKODA, said: “The new Superb has received more than just an external make over. All Superbs are now more fuel efficient thanks to improved aerodynamics and reduced vehicle weight. Mechanically the volume selling 1.6 TDI engine is now fitted with a new 6-speed manual transmission while all engines now receive start-stop technology to improve fuel economy even further. In addition, stylish new rear LED lights and BlueTooth technology for improved safety have been added to all models.”
Leddy added, “Competing in the Executive saloon segment, the Superb has managed to grow its market share for the last 3-years. We are very confident that the price reductions, along with enhanced specifications, will only increase its appeal to both retail and fleet customers.”
The Superbs popularity can also be accredited to its size. The Superb is one of the largest cars in its class with unrivalled luggage capacity and rear legroom in particular. It also benefits from a unique feature called TwinDoor that allows the rear boot door to open like a traditional saloon or alternatively as a hatch back. The Superb is also offered in Combi (estate) body styles. Superb 4×4 alternatives will be offered later in 2013.
